Spring Look #2

Published by sarah under Makeup Tips

How’s my readers todaaaay?? Today’s look is more of a neutral look with a pop of colour. This look (without the eyeliner), is what I’ll normally wear for a day makeup. I think I’ve featured this look before. I like adding a bright eyeliner on top of the eye makeup just to make it more interesting. I’m not one who’ll go out with bright eyeshadows usually, so I like adding a surprise to the look by wearing bright color eyeliner.

For the eyeliner, you can wear any colours you like. I’m using green here just because I haven’t been using that eyeliner for a long time.

Anyhoow! Let’s get the tutorial started! I’ve prepped my face with MAC Mineralized Cream Foundation (amaazing foundation btw).

Products used:

Foundation – MAC Mineralized cream foundation

Powder  - MAC mineralized powder

Eyes – MAC Patina, MAC Mulch, MAC R-rated

Eyeliner – MAC Minted kohl eyeliner

Brows – anastasia brow wiz

Mascara – dior extase

Lipstick – Rimmel “crush”

Lipgloss – MAC Pretty in Pink

Blush – MAC Dainty

Today’s look is very colourful, very light. My inspiration is from the michael kors runway look that i’ve done before, but I made it my own and make it a little bit more lighter. I wore this look to watch Alice in Wonderland with my sis..=D

Anyhow, enjoy the tutorial!

Lancome Waterproof Eyeliner!

Published by sarah under Makeup Tips

Hey there,

A few days ago, my mum started raving on about Lancome’s waterproof eyeliner, so i got some to test it myself, waterproof being something i don’t own enough of!

I was very impressed. The feeling of putting this on is AMAZING, it glides on like no other eyeliner i have ever tried, but it can smudge very slightly. But, i didn’t like the sponge on the end as it was very hard, but hey just don’t use the smudging sponge.

Now, the next all important decision was of course whether or not it was waterproof. I don’t know a lot about waterproof eyeliners, but after previous disasters (looking in a mirror and seeing a panda staring back at me after a rainy day – something thats happened a few too many times!) i was willing to give it ago. After showering and fully emersing my head in water as well as (being me) getting shampoo in my eye, I looked at the mirror preparing myself for the crazy panda look and was shocked. It had stayed COMPLETELY in place. I was totally shocked! It was amazing.

So, I was totally sure this eyeliner was as good as it seemed, so I slept with it on (also something that is normally very dangerous for my morning reflection). It didn’t look too bad, yes a little bit of smudging but better than my expectations. So after this, I thought it would be literally impossible to remove the makeup but my Johnson’s eye make remover wipes did the trick pretty fast.

Overall, i was extremely impressed and although it’s not cheap – £17.50 from Lancome – (i’m sure you could find it cheaper, ebay.. etc) there will be no black eyes on a wet day, you’ll get the heavenliness of applying it and the 7 stunning shades are very much worth it!

Shu Uemura Eyelash Curler.

Published by sarah under Makeup Tips

Hey there,

I thought i’d let you into one of the worst kept secrets of most of the top makeup artists…Shu Uemura’s eyelash curler!

This is an extremely powerful eyelash curler which really gives a lift like no others of its kind. You can curl them and apply a natural mascara to trick others into thinking your eyelashes are superhuman, or you can layer up thick mascara to create a false lash look.

They use silicone rubber pads, and are made in a way that doesn’t crimp your eyelashes – there’s a balance to produce a strong curl. The careful shape ensures that it’s right for every eye size, it doesn’t pinch your eyelids, and the curl really stays all day. This is honestly the best curler money can buy, and it’s won InStyle Beauty Awards 3 years running! Madonna’s personal makeup artist and Kate Moss along with every makeup artist worth speaking to in the beauty industry recommend it. And i do too!

Check it out on the Space.NK (official Shu Uemura stockists) site below, or click on the advertisement in the side bar.

Essie’s Lilacism, Pink Lemonade + My New Project.

Published by sarah under Makeup Tips

Hey there,

I’ve decided that i’m going to start a nail polish collection.

This collection will be on my favourite glass shelf – lots of expensive bottles organized with serious colour co-ordination – it will be a shrine to all things beautiful.

The thing is, only expensive, nice nail polishes earn a place on my shelf of glory, therefore, you’d think i’d have to pay extra.

But you are wrong.

Feel free to browse through the most expensive nail brands there are – without feeling you can’t afford it.

Because you can.

There are hundreds of sellers on ebay selling every specific colour for half the price! And some sellers don’t charge postage and packaging if you buy a certain number of bottles (which is fine by me!)

Since my discovery, i’ve already bought 4 bottles…3 of Essie, one of O.P.I.

Two of the Essie’s have come, ‘Lilacism’ and ‘Pink Lemonade’. Lilacism is lilac (no prizes for guessing :D ) and could be considered as neutral and as a colour. I’ve had lots of compliments on this colour, and i reckon you can get away with it in school.

Pink Lemonade is a gorgeous soft pink with a pearly sheen, and it’s the perfect colour to compliment a tan (the name reminds me of summer too.) It completes a polished look, or makes a less-than-polished look polished!

Just thought i’d share the news with someone…

Eyebrows.

Published by sarah under Makeup Tips

Hey there,

So yesterday, me and Charlotte went shopping in westfields (a huuuge shopping centre in west london) and i bought new eyebrow accessories!

First, i bought ‘Brow and Lash Gel’ from The Body Shop. I really hate it when my eyebrows don’t stay in place throughout the day, so i bought it to secure them. I also bought it so that, when i curl my lashes, they’ll stay up, because i can’t stand it when my eyelashes fall flat. :( Luckily, this product really worked for me, keeping my eyebrows and eyelashes in the desired shape! And for £9, it’s price isn’t reasonable or unreasonable, so it’s a slightly mixed review…the fact that there was a rude shop assistant there didn’t help either….

Secondly, i bought  ’Professional Eye Brow Pencil’ by Rimmel. It comes in three shades – light, medium light and dark. I discovered there and then that if you have medium brown eyebrows to black eyebrows, the darkest colour is usually best – if you buy it too light, it can look totally wrong (trust me on this one!) This was £2.99, an absolute bargain, it applies gently instead of heavily, so you have ultimate control. It also comes with a little eyebrow comb on the lid of the pencil, which is pretty useful, although i use tester mascara brushes (i steal them from space.n.k.).

Skin Care Advice You Can Use!

Published by sarah under Beauty Tip

Skin care advice you can use!   As promised, here is our second question and answer from Dr. Teri Dourmashkin, who holds a PhD in Health Education from Columbia University.

Question:  I have combination skin – what are your recommendations for skin care products for my skin?

I have combinatin skin!Answer:  “Treating combination skin may take a little more effort than just having dry or oily skin. But with a few tips, it is easily manageable. In some cases, you may need to treat your oily and dry areas a bit differently. One option is to use a light weight moisturizer all over your face. This can work if you feel that it provides enough moisture for your dry areas. If not, you may need to use a somewhat richer and more hydrating cream only on your dry areas. This would of course require purchasing two different types of moisturizers. If your skin is really oily with dry patches, you can opt to only use your moisturizer on dry areas. In as much as many experts will tell you that even very oily skin needs a moisturizer, I do not think this is always the case. If you are 35 and over, I would recommend some type of anti-aging treatment. This could be either a very absorbent light weight cream with super hydrating properties (hyaluronic acid is a great humectant) or even a serum. You really need to listen to your skin. As far as cleansers are concerned, combination skin should use an oil free, yet hydrating cleanser (aloe is a great natural oil free moisturizer) that contains no detergent or fragrance. This type of formula will benefit both dry and oily skin. La Vie Celeste Restorative Mother of Pearl Exfoliating Cleanser is great for combination skin as well as dry and oily. There are some “all natural” cleansers on the market that are detergent free, but they are not always easy to find. Detergent cleansers (even found in some “natural” products) can be very drying for some skin types.”

Sunburned? Skin Care Advice You Must Have!

Published by sarah under Beauty Tip

Skin care advice you must have starts with understanding sunburn.  A lot of us out there have suffered Sunburn at one time or another, but what’s the best way of dealing with it during the phases of a sunburn?

The first stage of sunburn occurs when you’ve been out in the sun for prolonged periods of time. Your skin will steadily turn red, and then look slightly damaged. When this happens, it’s because the UV Radiation from the suns rays is effectively killing the topmost layer of your skin, and sensing this occurrence, your immune system increases blood flow in the affected areas, opening up capillary walls so that white blood cells can come in and remove the damaged cells. The increased blood flow makes your skin warm and red.
