Review:
First off, the packaging looks pretty cute, sorta like a syringe (the picture on the website is outdated I think). But I soon found out that the pointy cap was of a little hindrance because it didn’t offer any other benefits, except for its uniqueness. The length made it a little too long to fit nicely in my makeup pouch.
The product dispenses cleanly and hygienically through the nozzle tip, so there’s no chance of you dipping your germy finger(s) into the product and thus making it a bacteria breeding ground.
On to the product, there wasn’t any off-puttingĀ scent; it smelt a little sourish, probably due to the acidic ingredients, but nothing too strong. The smell also didn’t linger too long when applied on skin. The gel texture was very comfortable on the skin, absorbing quickly when rubbed/applied on problem areas. However, do take note if you have open wounds such as a freshly popped pimple – it may sting just a wee bit. It doesn’t make your wounds go really red though, not like how alcohol reacts on sensitive skin.
After the treatment is absorbed, you might end up looking like a greaseball, ie shiny face. So I usually follow up with my Mario Badescu Control Cream that helps mattify a little.
I have trialled it since 9/10 Feb and my review is that the gel does work – but only on clogged pores. Whenever I apply the gel on my problematic areas (cheeks and chin), my clogged pores go away after 2 nights (4x usage in total). However, when it comes to huge headless pimples, it helps them subside by a little, but that’s all. The pimple does not go away completely, becomes a dark red mark and I cannot extract it nor can Spots Got Shot shoot it dead. I was left in a situation that, I feel, is worse than having a pimple. I had to salvage the situation by using Mario Badescu Buffering Lotion to try to bring the pimple to a head, pop it, then use SGS again to reduce the swelling and redness.
